Limited Edition of Stiletto Desk by Splinter Works

Limited Edition of Stiletto Desk by Splinter Works

British based studio designer, Splinter Works, sets to exhibit their limited collection of Stiletto Desk at the Decorex show in London next week.

Here is the information from the designers:
Stiletto can be appropriated for all manner of functions; desk, console table or dressing table. The sinous leg of the table evokes a ‘stacked heel’ stiletto, and is hand sculpted from solid stacked walnut.

The iconic ‘red sole’, defines the underside of the table in polished red acrylic, with a French Burr Walnut veneer curved top (as seen here) or with inlaid leather (offering a modern twist on a leather topped writing desk).

The drawers are perfectly fitted to glide open without runners, and they have no handles; just a neat hidden finger groove on the underside ensures the seamless hidden functionality of the clean sculptural shape. The drawers are lined in red nubuck leather.

Optional cable management can be installed with a conduit for cables to run through the stiletto leg. Custom sizes and finishes available to order.

Tools at Schools Design

Tools at Schools Design-10

Tools at Schools is a fusion concept between Bernhardt Design, creative consultancy Aruliden, and The School at Columbia University. As environment and atmosphere do really influence the learning activities at school, the design was purposely created to introduce design of comfortable school environment in the future.

The students immersed themselves in the entire design process, from research and ideation, to hand-sketching, 3D drawing and the creation of scale models. They learned to effectively communicate and sell their ideas both verbally and in writing.

Based on personal essays, five students were selected to visit the Bernhardt Design factories and report to their classes.  Here, the students experienced the magic of design, when their ideas were turned into production drawings and came to life on the factory floor.

BAO Chair by EOOS

BAO Chair by EOOS_4

Some photos of interesting has been just leaked. It is BAO chair that is designed by EOOS specifically for german based furniture manufacturer Walter Knoll.

Here is short description from Walter Knoll:
Spacious and round. It’s the curves that make Bao appealing on first sight. A sumptuous sculpture with an artistic back. In the style of a leather ball, the leather patchwork forms the rear. Flowing lines – sweeping and elegant. The swivelling armchair combines the materials whilst keeping them distinct: leather on the back, fabric in the seat. Everything has its place. Bao – as familiar as a welcoming embrace.

Creative Pouffles by Aroopy

Creative Pouffles by Aroopy_6

A Sydney based designer, Ainslie recently created a new line of Pouffles (slipcovers for ottomans). Here is the information about the design:

Aroopy has created a first line of Pouffles that is both eye-catching and lighthearted. The Pouffle (a snugly-fitting slipcover for a pouf/ottoman) offers all of the fun and none of the commitment … to one design. The initial collection is decidedly happy and starts with a dreamy Old World Map that asks us for holidays in faraway places. The Lower Manhattan Skyline, London Tube and Paris Metro maps have us zipping around the globe as a citizen of the world in no time. The single solid pouffle is in a muted cement on soft strokable velvet. The companion ottomans from Aroopy are very comfortably firm. A pouffle’d ottoman would be especially suited to recent college grads or anyone living where space is at a premium. A second line of designs, solids and patterns is due out in February. Which Pouffle suits you?”
