Chair Back Used as “Silent Servant” by Antik Kombo

Chair Back Used as Silent Servant by Antik Kombo3

If you see this at the first sight, it looks just like an old chair with clothes hanging on it, box and shoes inside it. Well, actually this thing is not a chair, it is Silent Servant, a simple and clever idea of using a chair back as storage unit. The concept belongs to Antik Kombo, a creative studio in Göttingen, Germany. When seeing this product for the fist time, I had a bit of difficulty understanding how it manages to stand on its own with only two feet. But seeing more photos revealed that its support is in fact provided by the shoe box below. The idea was taken further and a small wooden board was also applied to the chair back, in order to serve as a small shelf for various objects. Keep it in on a hallway, next to a larger dresser and it will stay true to its name. The silent servant will help you store shoes, small objects and clothes. So before throwing out old chairs, it wouldn’t hurt rethinking the situation and improvise in order to make some fun use of them. How do you find this unusual design?

Fascinating Design Combining Gothic Inspiration and Modern Techniques2

The gothic design is fused with modern techniques which is created by Japanese designer Nobu Miake of Design Soil makes the Cathedral Side Table stands for the idea of recognizing the value of modern design in the well-known Gothic lines. This chair is really unique, in which the all parts of the chair can be plugged off, so it is very easy to move or even clean it. It is made from molded plywood elements that were joined together by two types of metal fittings, the side table design impresses through the inspiring interconnection of the beech wood and the supporting glass and metal parts. The side table’s strength lies in the correlation between its elements: “Although the parts themselves have only limited strength, once they are assembled into a complete structure, all the force applying onto the structure will be redirected towards the center, and hence gives it stability and strength.” Inspired by Gothic architecture, the low Cathedral Side table brings a bit of history into a contemporary home, giving you the opportunity to express your love for old, impressive architecture and modern design lines. Can you imagine yourself enjoying it in your home?

Pain Decoration: Crashed Ferrari Coffee Table by Molinelli Designs

Crashed Ferrari Coffee Table by Molinelli Designs3

What are you going to do if you find a crashed ferrari on your recycle bin? Well, though ferrari car especially on F1 has a extremely expensive price, if it is crashed, it will be just trash or a collection for the collector. Shockingly, taking this idea to another unique level, Charly Molinelli of Molinelli Designs created a disturbing crashed Ferrari table using a totaled Ferrari and a coffee table.

I went with “disturbing” because few people have the satisfaction of seeing a very expensive wrecked car. And you have to admit the idea of taking the remains and placing them inside a coffee table is not less sadistic. But for some, this may just be the next best thing to owing a Ferrari. The designer did not mention anything about the costs of this design on the official website. But we are curious: what do you think of this wacky design idea? Would you consider integrating this type of table in your home?
